For anyone looking to buy the fastest, lightest possible gravel bike, the Pinarello Grevil F must certainly race to the top of the list. The Grevil F is not the Italian brand’s first foray into the dusty world of gravel, but rather the F is a refined version of the initial Grevil.
With the Grevil F, you are going to get a more integrated, more aero, more capable setup, with the same heart of a racing bike. A definite upgrade compared to the first Grevil, the F has been designed with a two-piece TiCR cockpit that is fully integrated whether you are using mechanical or electric drivetrains. The design looks super clean, and it cleverly allows for easy adjustability and maintenance compared to other internal routing systems. It’s a slick and sweet answer to any complaints about integrated cables you may have heard in the past. And as Pinarello points out, the cable-less front makes it tons easier to fit a bar bag, if that’s the way you ride. It's aero for those days you want to go fast and not so far but convenient for outings that require a bit more planning and storage space.
Though the biggest aero advantage compared to the first Grevil comes with the integrated cockpit, the tubes have also been shaped and shaved, similar to the improvements of the Dogma F compared to the Dogma F12. You get an enhanced flatback profile on the down tube to help hide the bottle and cage from the wind. The seatpost and seat tube have also been whittled. And while the fork flap was a prominent feature already on the first Grevil, it returns on the Grevil F as an effective way to stabilize the airflow at the front end.
In terms of capability, the Grevil F does its best to click yes to all. It has the rigidity and snappy acceleration of the best Pinarello racing bikes but with an added level of compatibility for folks with varying requirements. Do you want to use it as a road bike that can handle a bit of gravel? You can easily stick on a pair of 700c wheels with 28mm tires and be as fast as your friends on their road racing bikes. Do you want to concentrate on fast gravel races that cover a lot of under maintained trails? Then you can equip your Grevil F with some 700c wheels and 50mm tires! That’s a huge increase compared to the 42mm limit of the first Grevil. And if you are looking for some serious off-road capability or perhaps want something for multi-day bikepacking, you can still fit some 650b wheels with tires up to 2.1” wide. No one can say Pinarello has been too narrow-minded with this design!
They have also tweaked the geometry compared to the first generation. Here’s where they really are on the cutting edge of what they are trying to do. They have keep the chainstays and wheelbase tight for a gravel bike to ensure it retains the snappiness that any gravel racer will appreciate, but they have also slackened the head tube a bit and increased the stack while shortening the reach so you can feel comfortable on epics and in control on sandy descents.
The Pinarello Grevil F is 1x and 2x compatible. Made using the elite Toray T700 UD carbon fiber, this is a gravel bike that can kick butt in the rigidity and acceleration department while still offering the level of comfort and compliance that will get you comfortably through a full day on the trails. With a frame that weighs in the region of 1100g, depending on size, the Grevil F behaves like a racing bike on the road and a hardcore gravel grinder when the roads end and the rough stuff starts.
