Pronghorn Bicycles Team Rides to Support Bike MS

Recently, our team, led by our founder Irv Maddox, participated in the Bike MS charity ride in Cache County, Utah. This event, held on June 22-23, 2024, was not just a ride through beautiful mountain scenery but a journey to help end multiple sclerosis (MS).

About Bike MS

Bike MS is the 7th largest charity cycling series in the country, raising an incredible $1.4 billion to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s mission. The goal is simple yet powerful: to cure MS and empower those affected to live their best lives. With multiple rides across the nation, Bike MS brings communities together, united in their mission to create a world free of MS.

The Logan, UT Ride

Our team chose the Logan ride due to its proximity and the breathtaking mountain routes it offered. The event allowed participants to cycle through quaint communities and take in the stunning mountain scenery. The two-day event featured a variety of route options:

  • Day 1: 43, 80, or 100 miles
  • Day 2: 20 or 52 miles

One of the most challenging and rewarding parts of the ride was the 24-mile uphill climb on Day Two. Riders pedaled through lush pine forests and past rugged rock formations in Blacksmith Fork Canyon, with a memorable rest stop at Hardware Ranch.

Honoring a Legacy

Our founder, Irv Maddox, completed the entire 152-mile ride in honor of his late father, Steve Maddox. Steve was served by the MS clinic in Salt Lake City when he was diagnosed with ALS. Irv's ride was a tribute to his father's strength and the incredible support they received from the MS community. Completing this ride was a deeply personal accomplishment for Irv and a testament to his dedication to the cause.

Team Highlights

We are incredibly proud of all our team members who participated, but we want to give special recognition to our Syracuse shop mechanic, Luke Okelberry. Luke completed the Day 1 50-mile ride in an impressive 5 hours and 15 minutes. His determination and commitment are an inspiration to us all.

Join Us in the Fight Against MS

The Bike MS event was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together for a cause. We encourage everyone in our community to join us in supporting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Whether through participating in future rides, donating, or spreading awareness, every effort counts.

Thank you to everyone who supported us, cheered us on, and donated to this important cause. Together, we can make a difference and move closer to a world free of MS.
